Our story

Every child deserves a tutor who sees them.

Jalanea Tutor was built by Alexus Jalanea Jenkins — a Registered Behavior Technician who spent years tutoring neurodivergent students one at a time, and knew the care that worked could reach so many more.

The founder

From one kid at a time to every kind of mind

Alexus sits at a rare intersection: a behavioral scientist who also builds software. As a Registered Behavior Technician she saw exactly what neurodivergent students needed — structure, patience, and lessons that bent to the child. As a developer, she saw how much of it could be carried by good tools.

Tutoring part-time, she hit a ceiling fast: three students a day, fifteen hours a week, every plan handmade. Jalanea Tutor is how she scales that same care — ABA-informed, deeply personal — to far more families than one person ever could reach.

"I built this platform because I saw what was missing — tools that adapt to a child's neurology, instead of asking the child to adapt to the tool."

Mission & values

To give neurodivergent students personalized, ABA-informed tutoring that celebrates their strengths and empowers their growth.

Neurodiversity affirming

We start from strengths, never deficits. Every brain gets to learn in the way it works best.

Data-driven

Progress is measured, visible, and shareable — real evidence you can take to any IEP meeting.

Family centered

Parents are partners. Clear summaries and honest communication keep everyone on the same team.

How we teach

Evidence-based, and refreshingly human

We begin by understanding each student, adapt every lesson to their focus and pace, and keep parents in the loop the whole way. No jargon, no one-size-fits-all — just what works, for this child.

Adaptive diagnostics

A calm assessment finds exactly where to begin.

Tailored lessons

Content that shifts with mood, pace, and focus.

Progress tracking

Skill growth you can see, week over week.

Parent collaboration

Session summaries that keep you in the know.

In parents' words
